Rural tourism on the rise

Rural tourism is not a passing fad. With the first data of the year we can see how rural tourism is growing every day in our country. According to the accommodation portal Club Rural, the number of tourists who have opted for this leisure experience has increased by 10.55% during the first months of the year.

With two important dates, Valentine's Day and Easter. Valentine's Day is a special time when a significant number of couples have decided to spend this day together, separated from the noise and the cities to move to a quieter place to enjoy nature and the couple.

On the other hand, at Easter, dates in which traditionally there are many trips to the coastal areas or in search of the last snow. More and more people are opting for the mountains and the countryside. Rural tourism is booming but also is adjusting its prices.

By autonomous communities, those that have registered more influx of tourists have been Castilla y León (20.65% of booking requests), Catalonia (15.94%), Andalusia (10.61%), Castilla-La Mancha (8.94%) and Madrid (7.55%), the same that were positioned in the top 5 in 2014. While by provinces, those that have had more demand in these first months have been Asturias (13.76% of booking requests), Barcelona (7.73%), Madrid (7.40%), Cantabria (6.18%) and Girona (5.35%).

During the winter, rural tourism focuses more on inland locations such as Avila or Segovia but as summer arrives and the temperature of the thermometers rises are the destinations near the coast which will get a greater number of visitors.

The autonomous communities with the best occupancy forecasts for this summer are Catalonia, Andalusia and Asturias.

For our part, the farms of Naranjas al Día are very well received. If we told you that during the May long weekend we had full occupancy, this summer is not going to be less. Our rural tourism destination in the Mediterranean, Villa Luz, is already fully booked until September.

In the meantime, Casa Laurel, a magnificent rural house in Tenerife with three independent apartments, has a high occupancy rate but there are still some dates left to fill this summer.
