Combat the heat under the fig tree

It has always been said that under a fig tree you can't get hot. Experience proves us right. These trees are able to grow in any terrain and can reach a large size so the shade they give off is enormous.

They do not need a large amount of water. Fig trees can withstand great climatic changes so that they stoically withstand heat and cold. Wherever you think a tree cannot grow, a fig tree will grow.

Why do we say this? Taking a walk through our farms we can see two very different fig trees. One, with many years of history and the other with a few months of life.

We will start with the second one. Next to one of our fields, where we grow Clemenvilla mandarins, next to the road, in an old irrigation channel (this channel is no longer in use due to the introduction of drip irrigation), grows a small fig tree.

As you can see in the picture you have used the old gutter as a flower pot. It is protected from the weather and also, if it rains, you can store some water.

This fig tree can grow into the largest fig tree we have in the Naranjas al Día fields. It has been growing inside this abandoned house for generations. Its strong growth caused the wooden and tile roof to collapse and the branches protrude from above to wrap the wall with large branches.

Not only we have orange trees in Naranjas al Día
