The best mandarin season comes to an end

This week we have put an end to the best mandarin season in Naranjas al Día. With the arrival of Easter all the mandarins have been exhausted, 6 very intense months in which we have managed to increase all the records, both in production and in the sale of mandarins.

Long gone is the past October 13, 2015 when we put on sale the first mandarins of the season. An early season mandarin, the Marisol, which was characterized by its greenish colour but with a sweet taste that we liked very much. As the months went by, the rest of the varieties arrived.

A wide variety of mandarins that allowed us, at all times, to offer a quality product and at its best time of ripening. Thus, we gave way to clemenpons mandarins, followed by clemenules to, in this month of March, ending with clemenvillas mandarins.

Four different varieties of mandarins that have allowed us to extend the period of this citrus fruit for 6 months. During this time we have produced more than 15,000 arrobas, almost 200,000 kilos that we have been able to send and sell through our portal Naranjas al Día thanks to a 20% increase in sales compared to the previous season.

More mandarins for the future

We are not satisfied with the good results of this year. We work to improve day by day to offer the best oranges and tangerines possible. To do this we carry out continuous work and improvements to our fields. Rejuvenating our trees and acquiring new varieties.

We are currently working on the intensive pruning of a field of Salustian orange trees in order to graft them with new varieties of mandarins this coming May. This will allow us to offertwo new varieties of mandarinswithin two seasons. The Clemenrubi mandarin variety, the first of the season, and the Mor, from the end of the season.

The new varieties, chosen for their ripening dates and their absence of pips (this is the most important demand from consumers) will allow us to start the mandarin season around 15 days earlier while we can finish up to a month later.
